Description

The Gem is a collaboration between Dan Mann and 3x World Longboard Champion, Taylor Jensen.

Earlier this year Taylor asked Dan to consider a ‘one board in the trunk’ option for longboarders who want both trim and turns - he was essentially asking Dan for a design that would land somewhere between his TJ Pro and his TJ Everyday.

Dan’s response was an intriguing intersection of shortboard style concaves with a longboard style outline and the same fin placements that Taylor likes in all his boards.

He and Taylor decided to call this model The Gem because of how valuable it is - a one board quiver for 9 foot plus boardriders that can trim on the nose as easily as it can carve on rail.

The diamond tail isn’t a coincidence. It’s a Gem.

Wave Type

This is Taylor Jensen and Dan Mann’s one-board quiver longboard, the one longboard you’d keep in your trunk that can do it all. Ride as a Single fin in small waves for traditional trim and nose rides, and switch up the configuration to Two Plus One in bigger waves to hit the lip, draw some turns, and have a lot of fun.

Board Features

The Gem offers a bit more performance than the Special T, with a deep double concave in the tail to a deep single concave in the nose to help keep water flowing and increase speed. The diamond tail shortens the rail line for more pivot, but still has lots of hold and drive. It also does feature a hard edge, for that higher level performance with a bit more spice.

Gem 9. 8 flys

"Love it - great performance, carving and extremely fast. Only negative is the helium is delicate and it wont last very long. Setup 8. 0 centre fin half way forward and large sides . . . . it flys and great at long fast dredgy beachies on Gold Coast and on calmer days fun generating speed."

Exceeded expectations. Im a

"Exceeded expectations. I'm a bigger guy and I bought this board because it is longer and thinner I need for the style of wave in Cent Florida. Verdict: awesome. Performance is like a short board with the speed to get around flat sections and maneuverability to carve the wave to pieces. Thank you TJ and Dan Mann for designing this board. It's more than a Gem. This thing is a masterpiece."

"This board is killer, turns like a dream, plenty of glide."

88 Timbertech is not

"8'8"" Timbertech is not a mini-log. This is a fast, high-performance longboard, with rails that rip when you need a cutback, and a scooped nose that stabilizes when you step forward to make a section. Timbertech is strong and adds a little weight, which helps smooth the ride on bigger, faster waves. 2+1 when waves are head high or larger. Lose the side bites when it's smaller."
