DESCRIPTION

The Dominator II is a revisited version that I’m super excited about. The Dominator has been a staple in my quiver, and the Firewire line, since its inception in 2008. The DM II is meant to be a clean update of the original with design features that allow it to work well in a wider range of conditions and enhance its performance.

The obvious outline change is the tail going to a squash from the round tail. Also, the rails are slightly more refined and performance oriented. The concave is the same under the front foot but splits into a subtle, double-barrel and V out the tail in the last 5”. I normally look for a round tail to provide smoothness in transition from rail to rail and during turns, but the squash tail is proving to not only have that quality as well, but also a bit more release in the turns.

Very light, when volume it's only a problem for duckdiving

"Very good feeling on the wave, very comfortable board even in not optimal conditions. Very happy with the purchase. Seems very strong too."

I bought it in

"I bought it in 5'11"" and did not like it because I was struggling to turn it and it was floating too much. I am 6'0 and 165 pounds. I was convinced that the size was the issue, not the shape. So bought it again a month ago in 5'8"" (and volcanic) and started loving it. With a thruster setup the board is reactive, fast but still paddles well and good enough to catch waves. Very excited to improve my surfing with this board and try out other fin setups in the future."

I have been riding

"I have been riding the Spitfire (early edition of this board) for years. Love the board, broke the nose last fall. I have rented a bunch of different boards from 40L to 65L to find what works best. Ended up buying the Dominator 2 and could not be more happy. Improving on my favorite board (Spitfire) impossible. . . But you did it! Paddles great, catches waves, handles and flows. Just a perfect day to day board. This board is a quiver killer!"

The best board Ive

"The best board I've ever had, easy to catch waves and a performance never seen before"

I ride a 56,

"I ride a 5'6"", 28L Firewire Dominator 2, and I have to say, it's easily one of my all-time favorite boards. This thing is fast. It accelerates effortlessly off the bottom and transitions seamlessly through turns. I primarily ride it as a thruster, and it feels perfectly balanced. I've tried it as a quad, but it felt a bit too tight for my taste; as a thruster, it's just right. I've taken it out in surf with 8-foot faces, and I'd say that's about the limit for this board. Where it truly shines, though, is in waist-to-head-high waves. It's insanely fun and delivers a super enjoyable ride. Just make sure you size it right, don't go too big. This board thrives when it's dialed in for your weight and style. Highly recommended!"

Stoked on this board.

"Stoked on this board. Been on it for 2 years now and it's holding strong. Haven't surfed anything like it. Skatey with unexpected speed when I first road it. I got the 5'11"" at 33. 9 L. Im 6'0"" 170. I feel it may be a little long for me due to my narrow stance. Next purchase will be at 5'9"". love this board as a quad or 2+1 set. it's staying in the quiver for sure!"
