The Go Pad (+ two reasons Rob Machado might be the most friendly pro surfer and shaper ever)

Walking down any road in California with Rob Machado is like walking down Abbey Road with the Beatles – everyone stops to ask for a photo or an autograph or just to say hi – even the Beatles, like that one time Paul McCartney approached Rob in Los Angeles.

Today we went somewhere quiet with Rob, away from well trafficked roads, so that he could share his new Go Pad on video, in privacy, but people still found us, and Rob responded in ways we didn’t expect.

Rob gets recognized. And gives out Go Fish. Press play above.

The Go Pad is one of three new pads by Rob Machado, made with our friends at BLOOM Foam, using algae sourced from freshwater habitats at risk of toxic algal bloom.

The 3 Piece is inspired by Rob’s shortboards and made for ripping. The 2 + 1 is a flat pad for wide tails that doubles as a two piece flat pad for narrow tails by removing the center piece.

And the Go Pad? Self explanatory.

Rob’s new pads are in surf shops now. Stay tuned for more on all three.
