    Addvance Info

Developed in collaboration between Taj's father Vance Burrow and Nev, the ADDvance offers extreme flotation in RapidFire technology. Combining the buoyancy of a longboard with a contemporary outline, the ADDvance Series opens up new possibilities for fun and performance. ADDvance your surfing! We’ve also added a 5/4/3 fin configuration for the coming year.

    Yep i'm hearing you...
Have popped the question over on a Dominator thread; will see what advise is there.
Firewire is great - just need to find the right stick.
    Surf on !

If you can demo, perfect. Yes you will have an adjustment to the shorter board but coming of a mid length it won't be too bad. I went from a 9ft longboard downed to a SP. The first surf was like being a kook all over again but it only took 5 surfs to get it dialed in. It was actually reinvigorating providing a challenge for my surfing rather than just cruising on the longboard within my comfort zone.

I still reckon your too light for an ADDvance, and would tire of it quickly and want to progress further. maybe post this query again in the Dominator section. The reviews on this board, both here and people I have personally spoken with, really sound amazing.

So demo both, don't hold back because in this life you only get one chance.

Neva look back, Neva say Neva !

Thanks stc67 great summary of how the addvance works for you. It sounds like a good all round wave-catcher board that can still be ridden reasonably hard. I do wonder though if i'll find it a little corky given my weight and compared to what i' m currently riding. Think a demo will answer these queries. Dominator possibility too but the 6'4 or 6'6 in this seem to be ideal for a much heavier surfer & the drop in length might be an issue...
Thanks too Iggy. Yeah wouldn't go bigger than a 6'6 in the Addvance - if i got a PU custom might drop to a 6'8. I'm a reasonably competent surfer but been too many years since I've riden shortboards:-)

Have you consider going shorter?. We could throw in the poll the Baked or Sweet potatoes if you want a little board that excells on small crappy conditions.
As far as the Addvance goes the 6'6" will be more than plenty

Hi Atlas, I'm no expert but have an ADDvance so will offer my 2 cents. I'm 45 and 95kgs and surf a 7'2 ADDvance which I think now is too big for me.

It will paddle heaps better than your mid length but will have a lot more volume. It surfs well, goes rail to rail easily, takes drops, paddles on to waves like a longboard and turns like a short board. If I could only have 1 board, this would be it (but maybe a 6'10). I also have a Sweet Potato which I think is a more fun small wave board, but anything over head high and steep I get some serious face plants. A SP is not a 1 board quiver.

As I said the ADDvance does have a lot of volume and I think it was designed for the heavyweights like me. At 72kgs, your might be better on a Dominator as a 1 board quiver. I haven't ridden a Dom yet so will let someone else spell the virtues of it. It will be my next board. If you can afford to have this as a back up board the maybe a Sweet Potato, or the Baked Potato looks good. I also find the ADDvance a little corky in head high plus, so I am looking at a Dom to back up my SP, I was considering a Hellfire but I think this would be too big a drop in volume for me.

    Have fun.

Looking at getting an Addvance 6'6" as a small wave/higher wave count board. I'm 72 kgs, 40+, and have been riding mid-lengths for the past 15 years - regular board is 7'x20 1/2 x 2 1/2 .Any advise on the Addvance vs something else in the range?

    hey gizona,
the addvance doesn't suck water that much so as long as the foam feels dry around the ding and isn't dripping, you are good to go.

    Cheers!
